According to prosecution records, the gang of six Indians, posing as policemen, used to ask their victims to show their ID cards. When they take out the wallet to show the card the gang allegedly beat them and make away with their wallet. They also assaulted many of their victims after forcing them into their vehicle. Many of the victims who approached the police had bruises and injuries in their face and other parts of their body due to the assault.
The court postponed the hearing of the case to July 3.
In another case, an employee at the Ajman Customs was on trial for allegedly taking a bribe of Dh2,000 to allow passing a consignment of animal feed worth Dh500,000 without inspecting it.
According to investigation records, the police received information about the alleged illegal activities of the 35-year-old Somalian national and started surveillance on him. He was arrested red-handed while receiving the bribe in the car parking of fish market in Ajman.
The accused denied the charges and his lawyer said that his client never received bribe. The defence lawyer also said that the goods were in perfect condition and its owner had obtained import permission from the Ministry of Water and Environment.
