The 28-year-old American man, who allegedly locked the woman in his flat, was later caught in Abu Dhabi, driving the woman’s car.

On the morning of the incident in October, the complainant, a 23-year-old Bahraini, went to the man’s flat in Mirdiff to collect some traffic accident papers. The two were friends.

He became angry when she nervously asked for the papers, and he was hesitant to hand them over.

As she began searching his flat for the documents, he left the residence with her keys and phone, locking her inside.

She opened the window and shouted to passers-by for help, but to no avail. It was reported that she attempted to jump out, but ended up staying locked inside for around one hour. She was later freed by the police.

When quizzed, the accused admitted that he held the complainant in his flat.
