The suspects charged the beneficiaries Dh500 for forging a visa and Dh7,000 for a passport.
A top Criminal Investigation Department officer told Khaleej Times that they received information about the illegal activities through an informer.
After confirming the information, the police formed a team and managed to arrest one of the gang members red-handed, while the latter was handing over a forged work visa with a picture of the beneficiary who had agreed to pay Dh7,000 for the service.
During interrogation, the suspect disclosed the location of his accomplices and the police raided the apartment from where the eight other suspects were arrested. A large number of photographs, forged passports, visas and flash memories (USB) were confiscated from them. Based on their confessions, the police referred all of them to the Public Prosecution.
The Sharjah Police stressed that they would continue their efforts to bust criminal gangs that threaten the security and stability of the country and urged the public to cooperate and inform the CID about any illegal activity by calling 999 or 065632222, or SMS to 7799.
