The victim’s uncle, 30-year-old M.S, told the police about the treatment of the deceased and her seven-year-old sister at the hands of the suspect and his wife, the girls’ stepmother. The suspect’s seven-year-old daughter was rescued by the police and taken to Latifa Hospital in Dubai for medical treatment.
M.S launched a search for his brother and his nieces before finding them on April 28. The girls were staying with their father and his second wife, a 24-year-old UAE national known as S.S, in Dubai International City.
The concerned uncle called S.S, but she claimed the girls were living with their biological mother in Sharjah. However, when S.S called the girls’ mother in Sharjah, she said she hadn’t seen her daughters since November, last year.
On April 29 M.S went to the flat in International City and he heard screams coming from the apartment. He knocked on the door but there was no answer. He called S.S on her mobile phone but she refused to answer. Then he forced his way inside and found the seven-year-old girl in a bad condition. He told the police that she showed signs of abuse, such as bruises and burn marks. He also noticed that the girl’s hand was broken and she was not taken to the doctor.
When he asked S.S about the eight-year-old girl, she told him that six months earlier the suspect had beaten the girl and burnt her with an iron before taking her somewhere. S.S claimed that her husband had been under the influence of alcohol and drugs at that time.
M.S asked his seven-year-old niece what had happened and she explained that her father had made them drink their own urine and eat faeces. She also told her uncle that the suspect beat them.
She narrated that on the day her sister went missing, six months earlier, the suspect had beaten the eight-year-old girl with an electrical cable and burnt her with an iron and cigarettes. She said her sister fell on the bathroom floor and didn’t move. At this point her father took his daughter outside and returned without her.
On receiving this information, the police rushed to the flat and arrested the second wife and later the father. During police investigation, the father is claimed to have confessed that his daughter died after he tortured her.
He told the police that after she died, and he took her to the Hatta – Oman border and buried her in a sandy area near Al Mudam area in Sharjah.
After taking legal action and coordinating with the Sharjah Police, the Dubai Police searched the location and found the girl’s body with the help of police sniffer dogs. The police uncovered the skeleton of the girl wrapped in a white cloth with the head separated from the body.
S.S told police that she did not inform them about the girl missing because she was scared of getting into trouble.
The police will refer the father and S.S to the Dubai Public Prosecution. The father is expected to be charged with felony and child abuse resulting in death and imprisonment of the children in the flat. S.S is accused of failing to report the abuse and the missing of the child.
