The Ajman Criminal Court has sentenced a 31-year-old Imam to five years in prison and deportation for molesting a 12-year-old boy.
The accused, an Asian national, works as an Imam in a small mosque in Al-Jarf 2 area in Ajman. He allegedly lured the boy with money to his room located near the mosque after prayer, Al Bayan reported.
According to the prosecution's investigation, the son's mother informed her husband that their son used to come home late after prayers at the mosque.
When she enquired him the reason, the boy confessed to the molestation.
The victim reportedly said that after prayer, the Imam used to give him Dh5 and take him to his room. The victim was allegedly assaulted about nine times.
The forensic report also proved that the boy was assaulted many times.
