The preliminary investigation showed that one of the five suspects had allegedly strangled the 17-year-old victim to death, and threw his body in front of a house in the Maamura area early on January 10.
The RAK Police, who launched an investigation into the mysterious death of the youth, managed to nab the suspect in a record time of only six hours.
Brigadier Abdullah Khamis Al Hadidi, Director-General of the Police Operations, said the CID investigation showed that the victim left his house due to some family disputes. “The victim went to some of his friends with whom he stayed for some time during which he was physically assaulted by one of them.” The young man then moved to a drug hideout where he abused narcotics with some suspects and dealers, he added.
Brig Al Hadidi said he had a fierce argument and fought with the prime suspect who strangled him to death. He and a friend then dumped the body in front of a house in the Maamura area.
The forensic report showed that the victim was strangled to death while he was under the influence of narcotics. “Investigations are underway to detain all those who were linked to the crime, particularly the drug dealers.”
