Boy dies after lying in coma for five years
A 15-year-old Emirati boy, who had been lying in coma in UAQ Hospital for the past five years after a road accident, died on Tuesday.
The accident happened in May 2007 when the motorcycle the boy, named Omair M., and a friend were riding, rammed a school bus in Al Ramla area of Umm Al Quwain. Omair, who was only 10 then, failed to check whether the way was clear before entering the main road with the vehicle.
The other boy died on the spot, while Omair suffered serious injuries, including skull fractures and paralysis, and he plunged into a coma. He remained unconscious and died without seeing his family members in the past five years.
