A man, along with 8 others, has been accused of stealing four SUV cars from a port in Dubai.
The 31-year old Emirati manager who worked as a Jebel Ali Port security manager, abused his post to orchestrate the thefts along with nine others, including his brother, seven Egyptian men, and a Jordanian fugitive.
On November 9, 2017, the gang stole several luxury cars worth Dh630,000 in total which were stored at a rented lot by an automobile company.
They smuggled the cars out of the port after exchanging the vehicle's license plates then transported them in pick up trucks to a warehouse in Ajman.
A security guard at the lot tipped off the police regarding the incident.
Police interrogated one of the members who was arrested near Silicon Oasis on November 15 of last year, who confessed that they planned to sell the cars later on and split the profits. Another member was apprehended in Freej Al Murar later that day.
The next court date was set for May 20.
