Alarm traps burglar gang

The Sharjah Police, on Tuesday, arrested a gang of five Pakistani men, allegedly for a number of burglaries in commercial outlets in the emirate. An official with the Sharjah Police said two of the gang members were arrested red-handed while trying to break into a money exchange in the Sharjah Industrial Area No. 11.

The Operations Room of the Sharjah Police detected an alarm setting off at the money exchange at 3.30am and immediately notified the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) sections and the nearest patrol that proceeded to the location.

The police team found some people wearing masks leaving the premises. When the suspects saw the police they ran away, but the police team managed to arrest two of them.

The duo confessed to the police that they were planning to steal cash from the exchange and the others who fled the scene were living in a farm in Dubai.

The Sharjah Police in coordination with the Dubai Police arrested the other two suspects, who later confessed to their crime and gave information about the fifth suspect. He was arrested in Al Ain in coordination with the Al Ain Police. All the suspects have been referred to the Public Prosecution.

The official urged all commercial outlets to follow security procedures to protect their business by installing security alarms, connected to the police Operations Room.
