The trio did so to take revenge from the victim for dodging paying back a debt that he owed to one of them. They, however, released him after receiving the amount of the ransom.
The three men, all workers, identified as H.M.K., 26, S.G.A., 26, and M.K.M., 25, denied the charges levelled against them, and presented a written note from the victim surrendering his right, so the case was adjourned to February 11.
The case dated back to the end of August 2012, when the victim M.A.A., 23, stepped out from a supermarket in Al Qusais neighborhood and walked past a car parked on the side of the street, he recalled: “Suddenly three men got off the parked car, held and pushed me by force inside the car, and drove to Satwa neighbourhood”, noting that, they pulled him out of the car, and locked him up in a room inside a villa.
The prime suspect tied his hand and foot while in the bedroom, where nine men beat him up alternately with a wooden stick, asking him to pay Dh10,000 to set him free.
The suspects asked M.A.A. to call his family in Bangladesh, and tell them to pay the amount to the father of the prime suspect in their home country ( Bangladesh), as the condition to release him.
The victim called his family in Bangladesh, who then paid the amount to the father of the prime suspect, after which the victim walked out free from his illegal detention.
A member of the family of the victim, phoned his cousin, who lives and works in Dubai, and told him about the kidnapping and the ransom. The man in Dubai reported the matter to the Dubai Police.
