FMC Group owned Bangla Tigers appointed 39-year old former Sri Lankan cricketer Thilina Kandamby as head coach of Bangla Tigers for the upcoming season of Abu Dhabi T10 cricket League 2021. He will work closely with Lance Klusener (Director – Cricket Operations) and Paul Farbrace (Advisor).
On his appointment, Thilina said, “I am thankful to the franchise for giving me this opportunity and feel excited for the challenges ahead. T10 is a fast-evolving format of cricket and I am looking forward to experience it personally.”
Commenting on Kandamby appointment, Mohammad Yasin Chowdhury, Chairman, Bangla Tigers said, “We are pleased to have Thilina on board with us, he was the coach of Jaffa Stallions who won the recently concluded Lanka Premier League, and we are looking forward for him to help us lift the trophy this year.”
Paul Farbrace (advisor) to Bangla Tigers said, “T10 is a fantastic format and the team that will be able to execute their plans under pressure well.
"Having interacted with Kandamby as a player during my time in Sri Lanka as a coach, I know he has a very good knowledge of the game and handles the pressure situation well, which will benefit our exciting young group of players. Due to unavoidable circumstances, I won’t be available with the team in UAE this year but will continue to be involved closely with the players and team management by providing my observations and hopefully we look forward to winning the title this year.”
