The crises, disaster, emergency management team (CDEMT) has issued new regulations related to PCR tests to stymie the spread of Covid-19 amid a spike in cases.
During recent inspections carried out by the authorities, it has been found that many of the business sectors failed to implement the measures in terms of the fitness of the workers, who may pass on the infection to customers. The new rules will help bring down the number of cases, the official pointed out.
He explained that the crackdown will target workers in restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, gyms, men's and women's salons, labour recruitment offices, food and meal delivery companies, as well as car washing firms.
The official said that the CDEMT in the emirate of Ajman announced a decision to oblige particular institutions to conduct a regular weekly PCR examination for all their employees, except for those who have received two doses of the coronavirus vaccine. They will also be obliged to download the Al-Hosn application starting Tuesday (March 2).
Major Nora Al Shamsi, director of awareness department at Ajman Police, pointed out that the police recently launched the ‘Our commitment is a duty’ initiative to raise awareness about the anti-Covid measures to support the adherence of the preventive steps.
The awareness initiative will continue to educate workers and service providers in restaurants, and eateries about the new rules related to PCR tests. It will remind them of wearing masks at all times for the safety of their guests and in order to avoid a fine of Dh5,000 on the facility and Dh500 for each violating service provider, she underlined. The police keep receiving reports about violations of precautionary measures and action is being taken against the violators, Al Shamsi pointed out.
She urged all business establishments operating in Ajman to implement anti-Covid measures for the well-being of all.
