The Ajman Cooperative Society announced a 50 per cent discount on essential commodities starting Monday to ease burden on families during the holy month of Ramadan.
Sami Mohamed Shaaban, general manager of the society, said it is keen to make all essential commodities available before the start of the holy month. The society has signed contract with a number of suppliers to provide sufficient stocks for several months, and provide commodities at a competitive price, he pointed out.
He explained that the discount includes majority of the products that are in high demand during the month of Ramadan. "We advise the consumers to shop early and avoid crowding, and ask them to creating appropriate conditions for storing goods in their homes."
He pointed out the importance of buying supplies ahead of Ramadan, so it is sufficient for two weeks, and desist shopping on a daily basis, which will help limit social mixing amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The Board of Directors of the society was keen to ensure a smooth and seamless shopping experience, he pointed out. It has increased the number of employees at its branches throughout the month of Ramadan, especially in cashier and packing sections so that dealings are done at a faster pace, Shaaban said.
The facilities are sterilised in the branches on a daily basis - right from the time of receiving goods from the suppliers until they are put on the shelves, he underlined. Shaaban urged the families not to bring their children to the markets for their safety and stressed on the need to prepare a list of purchases in advance, in order to shorten the buying time.
