MUCH LIKE THE 1960s Batman TV show delivered punches and kicks during fight scenes coupled with an explosive colourful graphic adorned with onomatopoeic exclamations including "POW", "SOCK" and "WHAPAH", it appears the annual Middle East Film & Comic Con (MEFCC) takes its cues from the same series when unveiling their roster of celebrity guests. Every year, no sooner have you recovered from announcements such as The Walking Dead's Ross Marquand or Arrow's Katie Cassidy will be turning up to this edition - being held from April 11-13 at the Dubai World Trade Center - "KABLOOM", they knock you for six with yet another famous draw. Soon to be unleashed on the DC Comics superhero film universe, Shazam will be opening in the UAE on April 4. And when the MEFCC rolls into town the following weekend, its star, Zachary Levi, will be front and centre.
Levi made his upcoming appointment known to UAE media yesterday via a recorded message, which was played at a special MEFCC-themed event at Reel Cinema, Rove Downtown hotel. In the video he said: "Hey everybody, it's Zachary Levi from the movie Shazam and I will be coming to Middle East [Film &] Comic Con...I do hope you come by, we're going to have a great time. I'm going to bring a speaker. We'll play music. It'll be super fun."
The 38-year-old actor has appeared in a string of movies including Thor: The Dark World and Thor: Ragnarok. Fans from across the region can meet Levi over the three days of the show, as well as get up close and personal by watching him live in the MEFCC Theatre where he'll be taking part in celebrity panels and Q&As. Tickets are now on sale at Platinumlist.net, Virgin Tickets online and all Virgin Megastores. A limited number of VIP tickets are also available.
