Hours ahead of the world premiere of their big budget, multi-lingual potential blockbuster film 'Saaho', lead cast Telugu superstar Prabhas and Bollywood actress Shraddha Kapoor had more to worry about than the impending release of their film: The heat (the air conditioning at our interview venue was iffy at best).
In Dubai to promote the high-octane, action-packed thriller (made at a whopping cost of Rs350 crore), which was widely shot in Abu Dhabi, the duo seemed unfazed and didn't display any jitters that should have preceded the release of such a high profile movie.
In the making for the last two years, it is Prabhas' first release post the apocalyptic success of the 'Baahubali' series. But the star was cool and collected when City Times met him on Thursday evening at The Address Dubai Mall. "My life is literally like before 'Baahubali' and after 'Baahubali'," Prabhas admits to us, referencing the huge pan-Indian hit his previous movie has been. With a smile he concedes, however, that he is a bit "numb" and doesn't "know what is happening inside me currently", though judging by the cool demeanor of both the stars, we would never have guessed it!
"I always want to sleep and wake up and hear the good news!," says Prabhas, whose propensity for sleeping is well documented! While a big budget movie like 'Saaho' obviously has a big opening lined up (in UAE and GCC alone it will be shown on a record 385 screens, we are informed) even Prabhas admits that the opening day figures do matter though the audience reception in the weeks following the release of the movie was also equally important.
With the world premiere of 'Saaho' expected to take place tonight in Dubai (we are told neither of the stars will be present for any of the screenings), it is just a matter of time before a select audience gives its verdict on the Sujeeth-directed thriller. 'Saaho' is out for general release in the UAE on Friday, August 30.
