And this year, her new programme Nach Nach, a dance competition for the youth, is set to take Dubai by storm. City Times spoke to organiser Koshi Lalvani to understand more about the contest.

What is Nach Nach all about?

It’s a dance contest where youth can perform and showcase their talents on an individual level or as a group. The idea is to provide a credible platform in order to stir up the imagination of the youth in Dubai.

What genre of music will the contest feature?

I am launching a CD of Sindhi songs titled Nach Nach specially for the event. While its music is a fusion of pop, rock and folk music, these songs have a universal flavour as they deal with common themes such as love, marriage, etc.

What type of dancing will the youth showcase?

There are no restrictions regarding the dancing styles. The participants will be judged on various aspects of dancing such as innovative steps, use of the wide dance floor, synchronization between group members, flexibility of their bodies, variety in steps as well as the opening and closing poses. The opening should be exciting or graceful while the closing should be memorable like a picture frame.

Who are the judges and what are the judging criteria?

On the judges panel we have actress Preeti Jhangiani along with Neeta Lulla, the celebrated Indian designer. We also have Natasha Gangaramani, a young businesswoman who is driving her father’s business at Al Fara’a Properties. The judging criteria include choreography and its various elements, costume, make up and stage props.
