He might be one of the sought-after actors in Bollywood today but Nawazuddin Siddiqui had his share of struggling days before making it big.
As the actor awaits the release of his most ambitious film, Thackeray, this week he has been busy with the film's promotions.
The 'Manto' actor, during his visit at The Kapil Sharma show, remembered the days when he sold coriander leaves to make his ends meet.
He shared an incident where he had purchased coriander leaves worth Rs200 from a wholesaler to see and make some money. The leaves, however, turned brown and had no buyers.
What the actor didn't know is that he should have sprinkled water to keep the leaves fresh throughout the day. Nawazzudin lost his money and had no option but to travel ticketless in Mumbai train that day.
In another incident, he earned Rs4,000 as a junior artist and had to give away half of it to the co-ordinator. "From what was left, I spent Rs 1800 at a hotel to celebrate and the rest in a rickshaw ride. By the end of it, he was penniless again," Pink Villa reported.
Nawazzudin Siddiqui will be next seen portraying the role of Bal Thackeray, the founder of the political party Shiv Sena in Maharashtra. Amrita Rao will play his wife in the film.
