Only genuine automobile spare parts guarantee the long life of vehicles, an industry expert has advised motorists.
Although counterfeit spare parts are cheaper compared to genuine spare parts, these are not good for vehicles, Juma Al Majid Est sales manager for spare parts Siraj Hussain told Khaleej Times.
Juma Al Majid Group is the sole distributor for Korean auto brands Hyundai and KIA in the UAE.
"We participated at Automechanika Dubai 2016 for brand awareness and to educate motorists about the benefits of genuine parts," Hussain said. Genuine parts are the best choice for safety and shorten repair time, he added.
Last year, Dubai's trade for auto parts and accessories stood at Dh40.5 billion. In terms of volume, around two million tonnes of auto parts and accessories were traded in 2015.
Suggesting that spare parts be changed regularly, he said these include oil filter, brake pads and timing belts, among others. For the long life of vehicles, he said: "Timing belts should be changed after every 70,000km, spark plug after 20,000km and brake pads after 50,000km."
"We hold more than 100,000 line items to cover customer demand for all models," he informed.
Hussain added: "Our warehouses are spread all over the UAE through 15 branches, with the ability to fulfill customer demand 98 per cent."
He said counterfeit parts cannot meet vehicle quality standards as they fail to meet high safety and durability standards.
