A benchmark index of Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex), on Monday tanked 469.89 points or 1.79 per cent during the morning session.
The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was trading 142.05 points (1.79 per cent) down at 7,812.25 points.
The Sensex of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 25,809 points, was trading at 25,795.35 points at 9.21 am in the early session, down 469.89 points (1.79 per cent) from the previous day's close at 26,265.24 points.
The Sensex touched a high of 25,816.26 points and a low of 25,656.90 points in the trade so far.
