Emirates Engineering apprentices and personnel can now familiarise themselves first-hand with the mechanics and operations of the Rolls-Royce Trent 900 Engine. The engine was gifted to Emirates Engineering by Rolls-Royce during the Dubai Air Show, and comes almost a year before the Trent 900 will be put into regular passenger service on 50 of Emirates' A380s.
The engine will be moved from Al Maktoum International-Dubai World Central to the Emirates Engineering Training Facility at Dubai International Airport.
Maintenance and engineering staff will be provided with the opportunity for familiarisation and hands-on training, including the ability to perform tasks that would be difficult to access and perform on in-service aircraft. These include fan blade installation and component removal, amongst other tasks.
"The gift of this state-of-the-art engine speaks of the strong relationship between Rolls-Royce and Emirates," Iain Lachlan, Emirates' Divisional senior vice president, Engineering.
