The forum is part of a series of events taking place in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Under the theme “Enterprising Minds”, the event focused on how organisations can empower staff to enhance and deliver real customer value.
The day’s presentations talked about the most important mobile trends, including social networking, mobile commerce, IT consumerisation, migration to the cloud and tablet computing in the enterprise. In their keynote speeches, two top RIM officials stressed the importance on how companies can hone the potentials of innovative collaboration within their businesses.
“We have to make sure that we have the right people at the right place at the right time,” RIM Middle East managing director Sandeep Saighal said. “We have to learn how our business can innovate… not only should we give the right service, but also the right consumer engagement.”
He also added that with almost a thousand participants – double of that from the last edition of the event – this year’s Dubai forum is a record event.
On the other hand, RIM chief information officer Robin Bienfait lauded the event’s attendees, calling them “thought leaders” of their respective companies, and their key role for their firms.
“You are the thought leaders for your business… you drive the innovation for your company,” she said. “That though leadership is why you need to be thinking beyond mobility, beyond the boundaries of what you do today.”
Bienfait encouraged them to think about the “value you can bring not only to your business, but also to your employees by allowing them to communicate and collaborate with each other.”
“If you allow that communication to occur, it will create the innovation you seek.”
In a video release, RIM vice-president for software and services Rory O’Neill said that with nearly 3,000 customers participating at the event, it is exciting to see and discover the innovation the region has to offer.
“We’ve seen a lot of customers, such as Emirates and Jumeirah Group, use a lot of BlackBerry to really help them get closer to their customers,” he said.
“Companies are helping in liberating their employees to think and take action in real time… we call that enterprising minds, which is our theme.”
“The whole point here is to connect mobile innovators with business entrepreneurs… to really drive effective change.”
The forum was also a good opportunity for businesses across all sectors and industries to learn and understand the true benefits of smartphone and tablet technology, while getting a first-hand view of the plethora of solutions offered by the BlackBerry platform and its partners. — alvin@khaleejtimes.com
