The Flag Day initiative aims to inculcate the culture of respecting the national flag as a symbol of the country’s sovereignty, unity and a sense of belonging.

It aims to amalgamate all segments of the society and to hold high the value of union on the basis that the Federal flag is the fundamental identity of the UAE. It also aims to focus all individual interests into the larger national aspiration.

Shaikh Mohammed also launched the “My work elevates my flag” campaign” organised by the Watani Programme as part of the 41st National Day anniversary celebrations.

Under the campaign, individuals can prepare cards listing a work or achievement that they are proud of. The cards of achievement prepared by individuals will be collected as a symbol that signifies the importance of translating loyalty to a tangible work that underlines faith in the country’s development projects.

The Flag Day initiative targets students in around 800 schools and universities nationwide, including both Emiratis and expatriate students, as well as their parents and guardians.

Activities of Flag Day, themed “My work elevates my flag”, will include an art exhibition and another show for children with autism. The theme for the art exhibition is inspired by the story of Emirati martyr Salem Suhail who died on the Greater Tunb Island on November 30, 1971, while defending the flag of the UAE.

The show will be held on the premises of Mohammed bin Rashid Medical Academic Medical Centre at Dubai Medical City.
