Shanghai is the second Chinese city, after Hong Kong, to figure in Saudia's cargo network. The addition was necessitated because of the booming Chinese market and also the growing trade between Saudia Arabia and China.

''The inclusion of Shanghai to the cargo network is a good step,'' commented Hatem Zarea, vice president, Saudia Cargo.

He said a 15 per cent increase in cargo movement from China was expected by the end of the year over the previous year. In all Saudia has 77 stations nationally and internationally. The airline has 11 international cargo stations — Brussels, New York, Huston, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Dhaka, Shanghai, Delhi, Khartoum, Addis Ababa and Austin.
