The increase of prices of animal forage was discussed during the second meeting of Executive Committee of the Higher Consumer Protection Committee that was presided over by the MOE Undersecretary for the Economy Sector, Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Saleh.

A study by MOE on the increase of animal forage price was discussed by the Executive Committee that decided to hold a meeting with animal forage producing factories (which increased prices exceeding the initial increase of prices of forage raw materials). The study pointed out that the increase of above mentioned prices will lead to an increase in poultry and meat products and that no lobbying or monopoly was found out on that issue that contradicts with laws in the country.

During its discussions, the committee also declared that the 5 per cent increase in price of Nido milk was justified.

The same executive committee also turned down a request by Al Sinnara Rice supplier company to increase the price saying it was unjustified.

Earlier, the committee set the limit of 20 per cent increase of prices of bread raw material and left it to each emirate to decide on percentage of increase not exceeding 20 per cent.

Representatives from the different local economy departments, secretariat general of the municipalities, cooperatives union, UAE Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industries and the standardisation authority attended the meeting.
