Maritime expo gets good industry response

DUBAI - Gulf Maritime 2004 exhibition and conference for the commercial, government and military maritime industry, which concluded at Expo Centre Sharjah on April 21, has evoked a very strong response from the regional maritime industry.

According to the organisers, the show featured over 110 companies from 23 countries, and the displays included the latest in design, building and equipping of all types of vessels from fishing, offshore support vessels, tankers, tugs, ferries, patrol boats and all types of cargo ships, ship repair and port operations products & services and cargo handling services.

This year's edition not only experienced an increase of 50 per cent, but also saw a rise in the number of registered trade visitors, which totalled 2,785 from 52 countries compared to last year's 1,673, recording an increase of 60 per cent, Expo Centre Sharjah said.

In terms of business, most exhibitors reported at the conclusion of the show that they had either received confirmed orders or had received queries that would eventually lead to orders in the near future for their products and services.
