Liborio Stellino, Ambassador of Italy to the UAE, officially opened the 300sqm Italian pavilion at this year's VOD Dubai International Jewellery Show (VOD DIJS). He was joined by Valentina Setta, Italian Consul-General, and Gianpaolo Bruno, Trade Commissioner to the UAE, Oman and Pakistan at the Italian Trade Agency (ITA).
Twenty-nine leading Italian jewellery companies are participating in the Italian pavilion organised by ITA, which is also hosting an exclusive reception for visitors and buyers to interact with designers and executives from the participating companies.
Speaking at the opening, Stellino said: "The UAE is Italy's strategic partner in many business sectors including precious jewellery. In fact, the UAE is the second largest market for Italian jewellery as luxury Italian designs are very popular among UAE's fashion-conscious customers. Like every industry, the Italian jewellery industry too has had to evolve to face competition, as today consumers focus more on high-end products where the price of the metal is not the main criteria in determining the value of a piece and other factors like craftsmanship and design exert a more important role. By participating in VOD DIJS, Italian jewellers can showcase the beauty, imagination, innovation and craftsmanship of their work to discerning buyers and consumers."
Jewellery exports to the UAE equaled Euro 904 million in 2016, a 14.5 per cent share of the total jewellery export business of Italy.
According to Gianpaolo Bruno: "The 29 jewellers participating in the Italian pavilion at VOD DIJS have been selected for their commitment to quality, design and innovation. These are the factors that have helped our jewellery industry withstand competition and be at the top of their game for many years. Today many customers are interested in Italian jewellery and VOD DIJS provides participants the opportunity to network and meet buyers, investors and consumers under one roof."
VOD Dubai International Jewellery Show 2017, which opened at Dubai World Trade Centre on November 15 will concluded today.
The Italian pavilion is located at stands H205 and H203 in Za'abeel Hall 4.
