Samsung's new Galaxy Note 7 is back on shelves from October 1 and it's also available at the Gitex Shopper.
Samsung has announced that Note 7 owners can get a replacement for earlier Note 7s at the Gitex Shopper. In addition, there are 13 other locations in Dubai where customers can exchange their existing Note 7 with a new one.
Customers can also visit a dedicated Samsung Galaxy Note 7 exchange location at the Dubai World Trade Centre throughout Gitex Shopper. Although the sales of Note 7 have started this month, the company's main focus is to replace older devices. There are more stocks for replacement than fresh sales.
Samsung's Note 7 is still popular in the UAE as more than 90 per cent of customers are coming in for exchanges and not refunds, a retailer told Khaleej Times.
Priced at Dh2,999, the new Galaxy Note 7 is available at Sharaf DG with a tour voucher worth Dh350 and 128 GB memory card. Emax Electronics also bundled the device with a wireless charger, 128 GB memory card, Holiday Factory package and Galaxy Entertainer.
The South Korean electronics giant suspended the sales of Note 7 in September in the UAE and other nine markets globally following battery issues.
In addition to beginning the Galaxy Note 7 exchange programme, Samsung has also introduced an additional measure to protect customer safety and encourage Galaxy Note 7 customers to exchange their device as soon as possible.
Samsung issued a new software to all Galaxy Note 7 devices in the Gulf region that limits the battery charge to 60 per cent. This software was rolled out to existing customers' devices on September 25, 2016. By actively limiting the ability of the device to charge to full capacity, Samsung aims to reinforce the message to customers that they should immediately replace their existing device with a new Galaxy Note 7.
In addition, customers who exchange their existing device for a new Galaxy Note 7 will notice an update to the battery icon. Any Galaxy Note 7 device that shows a 'green' battery icon on the device notification bar, the 'Power Off' prompt screen or the Always-On Display can be assured that their device is safe for charging.
