Alan Joyce, who heads Qantas' discount carrier Jetstar, was appointed last week to replace Geoff Dixon at the helm of the airline in November.

The 42-year-old executive said he would continue with Dixon's strategy that had made Qantas one of the most successful carriers in the world.
