A globalist approach towards free trade is important and governments should take down barriers because partnerships benefit businesses and economies, according to Nigel Travis, executive chairman, Dunkin' Brands.

He maintains that Transpacific Partnerships would have created more opportunities for the company in Latin America and Southeast Asia. "I always believe that having a globalist approach to free trade is important and taking down barriers is good for everyone," he said.

"We believe that it is unfortunate that the proposed trade agreement Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) didn't materialise because it could have created more opportunities to sell more ice cream from America to places in Latin America and Southeast Asia and it would have been good for our production of ice cream and even could have reduced the price of it to more economies of scale," he added.

"I thought it was unfortunate that the UK intends to leave the EU. I think partnerships bring peace and consistencies in various areas of the world. And that is what we all want," he said. He cited a shortage of skilled and unskilled labour shortage as a major challenge in different countries. Travis believes organised immigration and technology can provide solutions to this challenge.
