The scheduled date of delivery will be by end 2008, enabling the airline to service customers throughout the Middle East and the Gulf region, Africa, Europe, the Far East and the US with its current destination list of more than 30 countries and 42 destinations, Berhanu Kassa, Ethiopian Airlines' area manager (Gulf), told Khaleej Times.

The latest addition to Ethiopian Airlines' existing fleet will allow the airline to increase its frequency and service more destinations. It flies 10 times weekly from Dubai, and is expected to add two more flights per week during the summer. It flies to 24 countries in Africa.

Ethiopian Airlines, which has been servicing Dubai for the past 25 years, has a 60-year industry experience.

Meanwhile, the airline felicitated its top revenue-generating agents — nine cargo agents and six passenger travel agencies — in an awards ceremony held at the JW Marriott Hotel on Saturday evening.

The cargo agencies that were presented with certificates and financial rewards included Al Betul General Trading, Cargo Network, Najmat Al Salam Trading Co., Nibras Cargo, OTTA Cargo, Sultan Hilal Cargo, Swift Freight, Super Galerie Cargo and Salim Al Toki Freight Forwarders.

Among the passenger travel agencies that were likewise honoured for their contribution to Ethiopian Airline's performance for its fiscal year 2003-04 included Airlink International, Al Rais Travels, ANTA Travels, Dnata, Orient Travel and Touring Agency (OTTA) and SNTTA.
