Under the codeshare agreement signed recently, both airlines will be jointly marketing and promoting six flights per week with each airline operating three flights.
Accordingly, Gulf Air, which has been operating a twice-weekly service to Kabul, will be adding one more flight per week.
Samer Majali, Gulf Air chief executive officer, said: “Our commitment to strengthening our regional network and connecting regional markets is reinforced in our partnership with Safi Airways. With a total of 12 weekly flights now between Bahrain and Kabul, travellers can take advantage of our fast and easy connections via Bahrain to fly to any of the 50 destinations across Gulf Air’s network.”
He continued, “Kabul is a key market for Gulf Air, where we have been witnessing a high-demand since we launched our service in June 2011 and we hope to further develop the market by connecting across the entire Gulf Air network.
“Gulf Air flights between Bahrain and Kabul serve to enhance and strengthen the airline’s regional network while catering to a large migrant Afghan population worldwide,” concluded Majali.
The combined capacity will provide greater flight options for passengers in Kabul to travel to their preferred destinations with short transit times at Bahrain airport in both directions. The frequency, in particular, allows convenient two way connections via Bahrain for Gulf Air passengers flying to/from Frankfurt, Copenhagen, Paris, Rome, London, Bangkok, Manila, Jeddah, Riyadh and Cairo on Gulf Air and to USA and Canada through its codeshare partner American Airlines.
