The world's longest zipline in UAE's Ras Al Khaimah has announced that it will 're-open' as soon as the necessary maintenance has been completed after the tragic helicopter crash last year in December.
According to a statement issued earlier by the developers, Toroverde, all zipline flights have been cancelled until further notice due to a 'very serious incident' on the mountain. Jebel Jais Mountain Park and access road have been closed until further notice, in order to give the emergency services the access they need.
Four crew members lost their lives after their rescue helicopter crashed into Jebel Jais. It hit the zipline before crashing and bursting into flames.
The company issued another statement on Sunday, apprising 'adventurists' on a possible re-opening date:
'Dear Jebel Jais Adventurists,
We regret that due to a serious incident which occurred on the mountain, the zipline facility has been temporarily closed.
We are currently running a full assessment of the zipline area, to ensure the safety of our visitors, and will re-open as soon as the necessary maintenance has been completed.
If you have a booking with us, our team will get in contact with you to reschedule or refund your booking. The safety and security of our customers is our utmost priority.
Thank you for your understanding.
The team at Toroverde Ras Al Khaimah'
