For star gazers in Dubai, an extraordinary rare celestial spectacle is round the corner: the supermoon eclipse that's set to grace the skies on January 31.
According to araanews on Instagram, the supermoon eclipse will be visible from several parts of the world on this date.
In Dubai, you will be able to see it from 6:04pm for 3 minutes. And its transience is sure to leave you spellbound!
This rare phenomenon is called the 'Super Blue Blood Moon'. It last happened 150 years ago, according to the Science Magazine.
But what exactly does it mean?
According to Science Magazine, the 'Super Blue Blood Moon' is a celestial occurrence made up of three separate events - a blue moon, a supermoon and a total lunar eclipse, all rolled into one magical package. Blue moon is the term used for the second full moon of the month.
A supermoon happens when the moon is at its closest position to Earth, making it appear larger than usual. A total lunar eclipse happens when the moon passes directly behind the Earth's shadow and completely blocks direct sunlight. This, in turn, makes the moon appear red - also known as the 'blood moon'.
