While some app developers have developed apps for this segment, one cellphone manufacturer has designed a custom phone which can provide an additional layer of security to women.

Mobile phone manufacturer iBall has launched a mobile phone iBall Andi Udann which is armed with a special SOS button on the rear panel of the phone which once pressed, sets off an alarm thus forewarning people around about a possible emergency. The phone also shoots off text messages to a set of pre-defined folks among the contacts list to notify and alert them of an impending situation. The text message is also routed as an update to Facebook and also help trace the exact geographical location of the user. A GPS tracking feature when installed provides location of the user (or the users’ phone) at specified periodicity. The Android phone which works on the Jellybean OS, has a 5-inch display and the 5 megapixel camera has an in-built app called ICE (In case of Emergency) which has the ability to capture the users’ key information such as blood group and medical track record.

Now mind you, you need to be careful with the button and ensure that you don’t press it inadvertently else all hell will break loose!
