Indian reality television actor Nivedhitha Gowda is caught in controversy after she posted a video on Instagram of her taking the 'Kiki challenge'.
A case has been filed against the ex-Bigg Boss Kannada contestant (Season 5 aired between 2017-2018) at the Halasuru Gate police station by fringe outfit Kannada Sangatenagala Okkoota.
After the incident, Gowda was summoned by the police. "The police cautioned me not to repeat this and I assured them the same. I was not aware of the ban in the first place. Once I was informed of it, I took the video down immediately," TOI quoted Gowda as saying.
"There were many actors who posted the videos, which were shown on TV as well but I'm clueless as to why they filed a case against me. For a moment, I felt targeted."
The actor's family was worried after the legal complaint against her. "My parents didn't know what was happening and why they were creating an issue out of this. It is a big thing for us especially a college student like me. They were initially worried. Later they understood the situation and stood by me," she said.
Talking about her reply to the case Gowda said, "I understand we can't deny anyone's right to protest. I'll oblige by the law and follow accordingly. I don't encourage anyone else to take this challenge."
Several actors like Regina Cassandra, Pranitha Subhash and Adah Sharma have already taken up the Kiki Challenge. But the states of Uttar Pradesh, Mumbai and Hyderabad have issued an advisory against the dangerous activity.
