The consumer survey, conducted last month among 100 people across the country by MVM Events Dubai, showed that over 65 per cent believed that there were not enough corporate or social events taking place in the region.
Over half of the respondents claimed to be attending, on an average, less than three events per month.
A smooth and efficient organisation should be at the top of the agenda, with 100 per cent of the respondents placing this as the most essential ingredient of a successful event.
Eighty-eight per cent respondents said the variety and standard of food and beverages were either essential or important.
Of the people surveyed, two in three thought that events in the region lacked originality and a third of them want more original venues to be used.
Only 10 per cent of the respondents said the environment should be considered when organising events in the region.
"The events industry in the region is booming in the UAE," commented Nicky Duncan, Director, MVM Events Dubai.
"It is clear to see that consumers are hungry to see even more events coming to the region, including major and large-scale events such as the Olympics.
