UAE sends 40 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Libya

RAS GADIR, TUNISIA - An aircraft carrying 40 tonnes of humanitarian aid from the UAE has arrived in Garba Airport, Tunisia.

The planeload which consists of medicines, medical material, food stuff and tents, is part of the airlift between the UAE and Tunisia to improve the humanitarian conditions of people who were displaced by the violence in Libya to the Libyan-Tunisian borders, according to the UAE Relief Team leader Abdul Rehman Abdulaziz.

“The UAE humanitarian operation on the Libyan-Tunisian border town to help thousands of stranded people is being coordinated with the Tunisian Red Crescent, the Red Cross and international agencies,” he added.

He further stressed on the commitment of the UAE, under the leadership of the President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to delivering assistance to sisterly and friendly countries in times of crisis.
