UAE gears up to celebrate Eid

With a million and one things happening across the Emirates this Eid, you won’t be able to find an excuse to stay in. Take advantage of the markdowns at the malls or plan a staycation at a nearby luxury hotel. Just get out, get active and enjoy your time off with friends and family

As Eid Al Adha 2010 countdown starts, malls in Dubai and Sharjah are bracing up for the long celebration offering the best shopping deals and bedecked with colourful decorations that beckon shoppers, particularly families to come in and join the holiday bandwagon.

Mercato

Mercato in Jumeirah will celebrate Eid Al Adha with popular “Yola” performances. Starting from today (15 November), the mall is beautifully decorated with a typically Arabic colour scheme, capturing the spirit of Eid celebration.

Rana Jaser, PR and Corporation Communications Manager, told Khaleej Times that like in the past every years, a hospitability tent located on the ground floor of the mall is open for mall visitors to exchange seasonal greetings on Eid days. “Fawalat El Eid, which means Eid desserts and dates, coupled with delicious flavors of Arabic coffee will be served at the hospitability tent,” she said.

A Henna beautification area for ladies, to have their hands adorned with the intriguing designs of this ancient art. Each design will be charged at Dh10. All proceeds will be donated to Dubai Autism Center.

As thousands of tourists are expected to visit Dubai on Eid holidays, Mercato has planned to celebrate Eid Al Adha with a cultural twist. On 16th and 17th November, visitors are invited to enjoy traditional Emirati “Yola” performances, while they are serenaded by the popular Dubain songs. Shows will take place between 5 pm and 9 pm, offering a great opportunity for visitors to take Eid pictures as a nice memoir of the occasion. Mall timings have been extended until midnight on weekends and Eid days offering extra time for families to enjoy the festivities.

Al Ghurair

Al Ghurair City is also participatimg in the “Eidyat” promotion during which any visitor spending Dh200 at any of the over 200 outlets in Al Ghurair City during Eid holidays can be one of the 28 lucky winners to win Dh50,000 each during the fur days of Eid.

Sameera Fernandes, Group Corporate Communications Manager, Al Ghurair, said that the mall is expecting more shoppers this Eid as more shops are giving best deals to shoppers, particularly families.

Arabian Center

Since its launch, the Arabian Center has been abuzz with many entertaining activities for kids but it is expecting more visitors as it celebrates Eid Al Adha with visits from the popular “Al Freej” characters.

Visiting the mall to bring amazing activities, fun interactions, games and goodies for kids, the Al Freej characters will be a treat for the families shopping at Arabian Center.

Apart from the amazing entertainment, Arabian Center is celebrating this Eid with the Dubai Shopping Malls Group (DSMG) Shop and Win offer. The month-long promotion offers every customer who spends Dh200 or more at the mall a chance to win cash prizes of up to Dh1.4 million.

Shoppers at Arabian Center are also being treated to the many remarkable offers and fabulous discounts across all outlets at the mall.

Mega Mall Sharjah

Mega Mall in Sharjah has an array of events for families, especially ladies and children. The first day of Eid will start with a Clown Show, face painting, Kids Workshop and Fund Photo session for the kids starting at 5pm to 10pm. Henna and hair braiding for ladies are also set daily during the Eid celebration.

Sajaya TV, Spanish Dance, Puppet Show, Magic Show, Techno Dabkeh will add fun to the three-day Eid celebration. Dancers from Lebanon and Turkey will showcase Arabic dances for all.
