A heavy truck overturned in Fujairah, injuring its driver, said Colonel Dr Ali Rashid bin Awash Al Yamahi, Director of the Department of Traffic and Patrol at the Fujairah Police.
According to Col. Al Yamahi, the heavy truck overturned on Wednesday on Baisa Road on the direction of Fujairah Port and hit the roundabout and landed at the wall of the free zone. He attributed the accident to overloading the vehicle. The truck driver sustained moderate injuries and was referred to the hospital.
Student to be moved to Abu Dhabi hospital
In another incident, a Grade 8 student who fell from the first floor of her school will be shifted to an Abu Dhabi hospital for further treatment, said Col. Al Yamahi.
The girl, identified as A.M. Al Abdouli, is a student of Lubabah bint Al Hareth school located in Al Badia area.
The Operations Room of the Fujairah Police received information that a student fell from the first floor of the school and a police team including ambulance rushed to the scene.
The girl suffered fracture on her back and had heavy bleeding. She was shifted to Khor Fakkan hospital immediately and was admitted in the ICU.
Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, is following up the condition of the student and medical treatment provided to her, according to the ministry. The minister tweeted that safety of students is one of the priorities of the Ministry of Education.
Sources said the girl was playing with other students when she lost balance and fell. The Fujairah Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
