The Pakistan Association Dubai is a non-profit social welfare organisation serving the community since 1963. Based in Oud Metha, the strength of the organisation is its selfless and passionate volunteers that have turned around things in the last decade. PAD has multiple wings and forums registered under its umbrella, providing a platform for each segment of the community.
We take pleasure in hosting different communities (nationalities) at our multi-purpose Pakistan Auditorium with a seating capacity of 750 people. The auditorium houses the Niaz Muslim Library which has a wide selection of books for children, history enthusiasts, Urdu scholars, among many other genres. PAD also has seven sports facility for soccer, cricket, basketball, badminton, amongst others, and is open for the community to use.
Social Welfare
The backbone of the organisation is social welfare, and over the years, PAD has supported the community through numerous welfare initiatives. It works in the education sector providing financial assistance to students, scholarships and teacher training workshops.
Last year alone, it repatriated over 200 prisoners, including non-Pakistanis. Throughout the year, it continuously provides relief to families struggling with house rents, utility bills, medical aid, and through its legal team gives legal advice to people. Every year in Ramadan, 1,000 deserving families are assisted with food packages. It is safe to say that the capital we receive for welfare is solely through the community.
PAD also has a footprint in Pakistan. Parwarish is an orphanage home that provides education and housing facilities to children in Mingora, Swat. It currently has 320 students, of which 115 are girls. The plans to expand Parwarish are in the pipeline and we are seeking support from the community for it. The school was set up in 2009 after a military operation in Swat left many children orphans and homeless.
An integral component of PAD has been the free monthly medical camps since 2009 by the medical wing. The platform has served over 27,000 patients in 120+ camps and laid the foundation stone for the upcoming not-for-profit Pakistan Medical Centre. These camps serve people of all nationalities and cater to all their needs. The forces behind this initiative are the passionate volunteer doctors who will continue to serve in PMC as well.
