Students who were caught spreading leaked examination materials through messaging apps will receive zeros in their exams, according to the Ministry of Education.

Additionally, the supervisors who let them into an exam room with mobile devices will be referred to a violations panel for legal action, the ministry noted.

The ministry's rulings come following an investigation into the leak of mid-semester papers at a school in Ras Al Khaimah.

Parents of the students involved will also have to sign an undertaking that their kids will never repeat the same violations again in the future.

Though the name of the school was not released, a source confirmed to Khaleej Times that the leak was uncovered after students were found circulating the exam questions on a mobile messaging application.
