To mark the beginning of the Holy Month of Ramadan, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, decided to go the creative route.
In a video shared on Instagram, Sheikh Hamdan shared a stunning video of Dubai's famous landmarks coming to life using a circuit pen. A hand, which guides the pen, makes illustrations which light up parts of its surface. Landmarks such as the Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab and the Palm Jumeirah all light up as the pen traces their pattern.
The circuit pen, or a conductive ink pen is a specialized writing implement which can draw electrical circuits. With the use of magnetic modules and regular paper over a steel sheet, the surface of paper becomes a base for blinking lights, beeping buzzers, and whirling motors.
UAE has officially confirmed that Ramadan 1440 will begin on Monday (May 6) - after the Ramadan crescent was sighted in UAE on Sunday morning. Dubai Media Office confirmed on Sunday evening that May 6 (Monday) will be the first day of Ramadan.
