The Higher Committee of the Sharjah Ramadan Festival on Tuesday announced a Dh20-million budget for the festival. The event, being organised by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), would feature various social, cultural, religious, sports, environmental and heritage activities.
Addressing a Press conference, Shaikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Higher Committee of the SRF, said the festival has been designed to accommodate all business categories. "The organisers fully understand the importance of the private sector in accelerating economic development and have thus oriented this year's festival to harmonise the efforts of the government agencies with those of the private sector to boost investments and attract larger number of visitors and shoppers," he said.
"Although the festival has already made its mark as a major social, cultural and business event in the UAE, we want to enhance this by organising other activities that highlight Sharjah's dynamism. We aim to double the number of visitors and shoppers from within and outside the emirate this time, which is achievable given the confirmed participation of retail and related establishments this year. We will also use the Ramadan celebrations to drum up interest in our other seasonal activities as well," he added
