Saudi Arabia's Interior Ministry said on Sunday that it foiled two terror plots. It foiled one plan targeting police officers and another one to detonate a car loaded with explosives near the Al Jawhara Football Stadium in Jeddah three weeks ago, Saudi Gazette reports.
The newspaper quoted ministry's spokesman Maj. Gen. Mansour Al Turki as saying that they received credible information of the plot to target a football match between Saudi Arabia and UAE during the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, only days before the game was due to be played.
Two Pakistanis, a Syrian and a Sudanese were arrested.
They were identified as Sulaiman Arabdeen, Farmanullah Naqshband Khan (Pakistani nationals), Hassan Abdulkareem Haj Muhammad (Syrian), and Abdulazeem Al Tahir Abdullah Ibrahim (Sudanese).

Saudi authorities said they had foiled a plot to bomb a football stadium during a World Cup qualifying match and dismantled two "terrorist" cells linked to the Daesh group.
The other group had been plotting attacks against security forces and its members had received orders from a Daesh leader in Syria, the ministry said.
Punishment: Two get 10 years in jail for funding terror groups
Its alleged members were based in Shaqra, northwest of Riyadh, and are all Saudis, the ministry statement said, adding that the suspects had all confessed.
Six other Saudis were detained and were being questioned over alleged links to the cell, it added.
