Bee'ah has announced the launch of the annual Sharjah Environment Awareness Award (SEAA) competition and the Interschool Recycling Competition (ISRC) for the academic year 2015-2016. The announcement came at a press conference held on Monday at Bee'ah's Headquarters, revealing the event on behalf of the Bee'ah School of Environment (BSOE) team, headed by Meera Taryam.
The two competitions seek to develop community engagement and environmental sustainability, and will culminate with a prestigious awards ceremony to reward winners in June 2016.
SEAA is an on-going competition launched by Bee'ah in 2010, its environmental education programme, through the Bee'ah School of Environment to accomplish this goal. More than 250 different schools and nurseries have participated in the SEAA over the past years and over 40 schools have been awarded for their outstanding efforts in their initiative towards protecting the environment.
The participating schools actively involve their students in a range of creative environmental projects and art-craft environmental educational exhibitions based on the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) and saving the environment's natural resources.
Meera Taryam, Director of Environment Services & Education at Bee'ah said: "The level of professionalism demonstrated by previous year's nominees was outstanding, and we have seen growing commitment to environmental awareness over time".
To further spread environmental awareness as well as encourage students to learn about waste reduction, in support of its waste collection division, Tandeef, Bee'ah launched the Interschool Recycling Competition (ISRC) held between all the participating schools in the BSOE initiative to collect paper, plastic and aluminium materials. The award ceremony to conclude the competitions will host a growing audience, which has continued to expand year after year.
