RAK gets tough on individuals, firms flouting hygiene rules

RAS AL KHAIMAH — The Department of Public Works and Services in Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) imposed fines ranging from Dh500 to Dh5,000 on nearly 300 establishments and individuals for flouting environmental and hygiene laws.

Many of these violators were fined for littering the emirate and for dumping different forms of wastes in non-designated areas and outside the garbage containers.

Abdullah Yusuf, head of the Department of Public Works and Services in RAK, said the violators were caught by the officials during various inspection campaigns that were carried out across the emirate during last week.
