The emirate of Ras Al Khaimah has gone luminous - smashing the world record of the biggest glow-in-the-dark graffiti wall.
Over 35 local and international artists worked together for more than 3 weeks in order to build the wall that depicts Ras Al Khaimah in the past, present and future which is 407 square metres and located at the entrance of Saqr Park.
The function, run by the Ras Al Khaimah Public Works and Services Department (PWSD), saw the presence of His Highness Shaikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah.
The artists were so excited and determined to break the previous record which was 200 square metres, and they did it in an eye-catching way, according to a senior official.
Eng. Ahmed Al Hammadi, PWSD's Director General, said his Department, as part of UAE Innovation Week, has also launched a 'Creative Lab' at the park. "It will be a beacon for people attracted to the creative industries."
After the Guinness World Record Team had reviewed and authenticated the wall, a three minute bespoke firework display started to celebrate the new world record, he added.
"A new national song written by the Lebanese artist Salim Assaf in coordination with Memories Events Management was further dedicated to His Highness Shaikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi."
Later, PWSD showcased a 3D interactive hologram that conveyed the emirate's efforts on its successful journey by highlighting the Emirate's major projects, creating an amazing spectacle for the audience.
"We are proud that we delivered something really special and have broken the world record," he said, paying tributes to the Galadari Trucks & Heavy Equipment Co. Ltd (L.L.C.) for joining hands to make the event a big success."
