It is the largest area under protected area management in the Gulf, the only one of its kind in the Middle East, and the largest land area ever dedicated to a single project in Dubai.

It is managed by the Dubai Conservation Board under the chairmanship of Shaikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Department of Civil Aviation and Chairman of Emirates Group.
