Residents of UAE, including expatriates, could use their Emirated ID card at the e-gate in Dubai International Airport Terminal 3 upon arrival.
General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai in corporation with Emirates Identity Authority (EID) has implemented successfully the electronic gate system service (E-gate) on the identity card. Another benefit is, the card holders need not activate the service at the EID prior to travel.
Major General Obaid Mohair bin Surour, Deputy Director of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, said that passengers arriving through the Terminal 3 can avail of the e-gate service using the valid Emirates ID.
Major General Bin Surour said there are 28 e-gates in the arrivals at Terminal 3 adding that that the service will be implemented at all the terminals - 1, 2 and 3 - in arrivals and departures soon.
He said that it is important to give the public and travellers hassle free experience at the Dubai International airport.
Brigadier Talal Al Shanqeeti, Assistant of the Director-General for Airports, said that the use of the Emirates ID card at the e-gates is a vital project and a very important step in the high-tech system being introduced in Dubai Terminal 3.
