Major-General Sharafuddin Mohammed Hussain, Assistant Commander of Dubai Police for Criminal Investigations, said the project which started in 2000 would be a great security medium that would protect people's rights and ensure justice.
He said criminal evidence departments had solved most intricate cases and achieve advanced performance standards. The police official lauded the keen interest in the project by Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Under-Secretary of the Interior Ministry. He said instructions were given to form a committee, headed by Colonel Abdul Qadir Al Khayat, director of Criminal Evidence at Dubai Police, Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed Al Awash, Director of the Criminal Laboratory at Abu Dhabi Police and Major Abdul Qadir Mohammed Al Ameri, Director of the Criminal Laboratory at Sharjah Police. The committee was looking into ways of setting up a database at the federal level so that the system could benefit all emirates. He underlined the great strides taken by criminal laboratories.
